SALDS 2011

We are pleased to announce that the Subsea and Arctic Leak Detection Symposium was a great success! Over 50 attendees attended SALDS on November 8-9, at the Hilton Houston North.

SALDS focused on the special challenges of leak detection in subsea, surface and arctic environments. The event addressed the gaps and begins solving the problems with multiphase pipelines, as an industry.  SALDS presentations provided case studies and gave technology overviews, while the panels and breakout sessions addressed capability gaps and qualification methods and standards.

We want to recognize and thank our chairs, advisory board members, host and sponsors for their direction and guidance. Their support was vital for SALDS 2011 and helped make it a great success!

September 2011 Frac School – Houston

PetroleumETC is pleased to announce the success of our September 2011 Frac School in Houston. During the sold out course, industry experts John Ely (Ely & Associates of Texas), Dr. Jerry Jensen (University of Calgary), Mark Mulkern (EQT Production), Dr. Peter Valko (Texas A&M University) and Steve Wolhart (Pinnacle) led attendees through the ins and outs of hydraulic fracturing.

If you were not available in September but need credit before the end of the year, we’re offering an encore session November 14-18 in Houston. See the Frac School page for more details.

Frac School Branson

PetroleumETC is pleased to announce the success of our 2011 Frac School in Branson, MO. Held at the Bass Pro Shop Resort’s Big Cedar Lodge, industry experts: John Ely (Ely & Associates), Dr. Jerry Jensen (University of Calgary), Mark Mulkern (EQT Production), Dr. Peter Valko (Texas A&M University), and Travis Vulgamore (Pinnacle) taught the ins and outs of hydraulic fracturing. Topics ranged from fracturing methods to rock mechanics to well performance, and the well received ‘Bring your own Well Session.’ Attendees took advantage of the free time built into the resort location agendas, to float the lazy river, horseback ride, boat and fish.

To anyone who did not have a chance to attend the Branson Frac School, the next course will be held September 19-23, in Houston, TX.  The 2011 Advanced Frac School will be held October 3-7 at the Horseshoe Bay Resort outside of Austin, TX. 2012 Frac School dates will be announced promptly. MPUR 2011

We are pleased to announce that the 13th annual Multiphase Pump User Roundtable was a great success! MPUR took place on May 5th, at the Norris Conference Center in Houston, Texas. MPUR fosters sharing of emergent ideas in multiphase pumping and focuses on topics such as Subsea, Heavy Oil and Wet-Gas. The roundtable offers a unique learning experience for those requiring cutting-edge knowledge in this growing discipline.

College Station, November 9, 2010 — PetroleumETC is pleased to announce that Candace Massengill has joined our team as the Director of Marketing and Events.

Candace started her career at Texas A&M University as an event coordinator for the Multiphase Research Group in the Department of Petroleum Engineering. She has 10 years of experience in marketing and event planning in engineering, banking and legal services at Global Industries, Community Trust Bank and Baker Botts L.L.P.  Candace is excited to bring her experiences to PetroleumETC.

Candace received her Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Texas A&M University.

MUR-Mexico: Local learning and partnerships combine for successful cross cultural cooperation

We are pleased to announce that the 2nd Annual Multiphase User Roundtable-Mexico was a great success! The roundtable was able to reach engineers and researchers locally, as more than 80% of all attendees were from Mexico. End user and university support was strong, with 55% of all attendees representing these categories. These factors combined with a strong agenda combined to create a positive learning environment and cooperative overtone for the event. We look forward to capitalizing on the momentum built during this event for future multiphase events in Mexico. Success in South America: MUR-SA saw 70% end user attendance

With great support and cooperation from Petrobras and Petrobras University, the Multiphase User Roundtable – South America 2009 was a resounding success! Dr. Elisio Caetano (Petrobras) commented that the technical agenda was the strongest he has seen in the four year history of the event. With an astounding 70% of attendees representing end users such as Petrobras, Devon, StatoilHydro, and more, the roundtable focused on the experience and issues observed in South American multiphase applications. Petrobras to Host the 2009 MUR-South America

Multiphase User Roundtable-México

PetroleumETC is pleased to have the Mexican Institute of Petroleum (IMP), the Mexican College of Petroleum Engineers (CIPM) and the Southwest Research Institute (SwRi) join us as supporting organizations for the 2009 MUR-México. Along with our hosts and sponsors, we are looking forward to working with each of these organizations to continue the transfer of emerging technology in Mexico.
